Planned and Endowed Gifts

Real Estate Gifts

Real property may be a very useful asset to give to the Met. A gift of real estate can help the Metropolitan Opera and enhance your financial condition by providing capital gains tax savings. Should you choose, you could receive income from your gift as well.

You may also give your home to the Met, but retain the right to continue to live in it during your lifetime.

A gift of real estate, whether outright with a retained life estate, or used to fund a charitable remainder trust, is complex and requires careful planning and attention to detail. You should discuss with your own advisors and with the Met's Office of Planned Giving any gift of real estate you are considering well before beginning the transfer.

A gift of real estate is often an intelligent alternative to selling property. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss such a gift and how it might benefit both you and the Met.
